Dianne Beattie Children’s Physiotherapy is dedicated to providing highly specialist assessment and treatment to children of all ages. Specialising in neurological and developmental conditions, the aim is to work with the child and their family in order to help them reach their full potential.
The physiotherapist carries out treatment in a specially designed treatment room where care has been taken to achieve the ideal balance between the therapeutic needs of the child and the relaxed environment of one’s home. Therapeutic equipment and home furniture are utilised to assist treatment and tailor make appropriate programmes for home. Children are motivated through play and learn by being active, therefore emphasis is on fun. In addition to individual treatment sessions, families are taught specialist handling techniques by the physiotherapist, which are incorporated into simple daily activites such as dressing and play. Assisting the child to move in this way provides the necessary repetition which enables the child to learn and develop.
Following assessment, discussion with the child and their family takes places as to the desired frequency of treatment. This can take the form of intensive blocks, ongoing regular input or monitoring.
Dianne Beattie graduated with BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy and has over 20 years of specialist paediatric knowledge and experience. Dianne has worked at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh for over 20 years, working in all areas of paediatric physiotherapy. Specialising in neurological conditions she is an Advanced Bobath Trained Therapist with specialist experience in early years intervention.
Dianne is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professions Council.
